When our office is closed, our answering machine will always give information on when we will be returning and who to contact in an emergency. Please note that your family dentist is able to help with most problems that arise when we are out of the office.

Answers to some common questions:

A bracket came off,  An elastic (tie or chain) came off,  A spacer came out,  I've lost the key to my UPPER appliance,  I've lost the key to my LOWER appliance, I missed (forgot) to crank my appliance, I broke my appliance/retainer

An elastic (tie or chain) came off!

Call our office immediately and we can set up a quick appointment to replace it.

A spacer came out!

Call our office immediately. Depending on how long the spacer has been in and when your next appointment is scheduled we may or may not have to replace it. If it has only been a day or two we'll want to replace it. If it has been longer than that you should be okay - this means there is enough space.

I've lost the key to my upper fixed expansion appliance!

Call us immediately. You can only use the blue long-handled key provided. We have replacement keys for a nominal charge.

The key to my lower appliance is gone!  

Call us. In a pinch, you may use a paper clip or safety pin.

I missed (forgot) to crank my appliance!

For UPPER appliances - if you have missed a crank just stay on the schedule provided and keep track of your cranks - DO NOT CATCH UP THE MISSED CRANKS!

For LOWER appliances- Call the office for instructions. You may continue cranking as directed unless the appliance stops fitting.

I lost my appliance/retainer!

Call our office immediately! Your appliance is essential to your treatment. For retainers, remember teeth can move within 24 hours. Be aware there will be a replacement charge.

My appliance/retainer is broken!

Call our office immediately! Please keep any pieces and bring them to your appointment. There may be a repair/replacement fee.
